Nesting

Illustration of Nesting

By placing the details in an optimal way, you can minimize spillage and average set up time per detail when cutting sheet metal

In the past, Nesting was largely performed manually, but as more and more smart nesting programs are developed, this is performed to an increasing extent automatically. The details are rotated, mirrored and / or laid with common cuts to minimize unused material surface. Thus, there is much to be gained from having early in the product development process in mind when designing details that will be cut from sheet metals.
