Laser drilling

Drilling using laser through vaporization of material.

The process

The laser's ability to be focused to an extremely small point makes it possible to create microscopic holes with this method.

A laser generator delivers the laser beam with a constant [1] or pulsating [2] beam. The beam melts and vaporizes the material. Depending on the diameter, material and target hole tolerance one can also choose to rotate the beam [3] along the circumference of the hole or in a spiral shape [4] from the center outwards.
