The process

An abrasive is first mixed with a liquid which usually consists of water in a tank to form a slurry. The slurry [1] is then supplied to a mixing chamber [2] which is pressurized with compressed air [3].

The mixture is pushed out through the nozzle and the droplets of water and abrasive hits and removes material from the workpiece surface. Removed particles and utilized abrasive are rinsed continuously removed by the water in the blasting slurry.

Advantages and disadvantages
In comparison with alternative methods
Extremely fine media may be used
no impregnation of blasting media on the workpiece
Clean deep irregular surfaces
water and moisture captures all harmful dust, water acts as a lubricant or barrier that protects the substrate from erosion and deterioration
closed-circuit recycling of abrasives and water so that costs are reduced
Thin products warp resistant due to heat
Attractive surface suitable for plating
Expensive operation cost
Slower production
