The process

The strip-shaped workpiece [1] are fed from a roll and first passes a leveling station as a flat plate is more suitable for the process.

The band is processed by a set of upper and lower tools [2] mounted in a process line. Before each press cycle the strip advances one step and the tools are pressed against the belt with an applied pressure force. After the tools are released, workpiece is fed forward one step in the process and a new compression is performed. The last step generally cuts off the finished part from the band.

The tools are largely similar to those used in the punching but this often specially manufactured to produce parts in large volumes in the most efficient manner possible. Each tool may contain a variety of types of operations which expose the strip for punching, shearing and/or plastic deformation of the material.
