Pin brazing

Joining process where the lug is soldered onto the workpiece with a brazing pin.

Illustration of Pin brazing

The process

Before processing can begin the surface where processing is to take place must be cleaned. This is mainly because the method is often applied in environments where corrosion often occurs.

A: The workpiece and tool [1] is connected to a power source as power will be passed through a brazing pin [2] during welding. A lug [3] is then positioned against the ground surface, and a brazing pin is pressed against the surface at the cable lug opening. When current is passed the brazing pin is heated. This causes the brazing pin to melt in and around cable shoe and against the ground surface.

B: When the melt is partially cooled welding tool is removed, and the protruding part of the pin is then snapped.
