Low pressure mold casting

Forming process where a melt is directed up to the mold by a pressure is created in the furnace chamber.

The process

A furnace [1] heats a metal melt [2] while air is supplied to [3] create a positive pressure. This pressure causes the melt to be transported via a riser pipe [4] to the mold consisting of two mold halves. When the melt has solidified mold halves are taken away and the finished part is pressed out by means of an ejector [5].

When the melt is fed from below, the air in the chamber is removed better than in the static mold casting.
