The process

The round workpiece is mounted axially, perpendicular to the axis of the cutting tool. The tool is moved along the axis of the workpiece and mills out the gear tooth space. The work piece is then rotated by distance of one tooth space and milling is repeated. The workpiece is processed, gradually until teeth are cut around the entire workpiece. To create inclined teeth the cutter is angled during the cutting, the workpiece is rotated slowly while the tool is moved along workpiece axis.
