Euler’s buckling test

Test method where the material is loaded with a force in different situations to finally be able to determine the buckling force.

The process

The method is intended to determine the buckling force required to break a rod when the force presses the rod vertically. There are four basic cases of Euler buckling force, they can be calculated and each of them has associated and specific formulas.

Euler 1: one end of the rod is free and the other is fixed.

Euler 2: both ends are hinged.

Euler 3: one end is hinged and the other end fixed.

Euler 4: both ends are clamped.
